But the feedback always stayed the same every time (while someone else took another Director seat): “Keep doing what you’re doing!”
And one day in my office, hot coffee in hand, it hit me:
I wasn’t overlooked because I wasn’t ready. I was overlooked because my work didn't scream “Director” to the right people.
So I flipped the script and changed the way I showed up. I rewrote my value in business outcomes (not effort), built a proof trail that decision-makers couldn’t ignore, and learned to speak in impact and priorities
